The Campaign Office of Mark Albertini said today he will run as a Republican for the U.S. Senate seat held by Sen. Lamar Alexander. Mr. Albertini said "ever since I started to think about actively pursuing public service, I have believed I have a responsibility to be a force for positive change and productive leadership in this world. Such change, I believe, occurs through both challenging and cooperative methods. America is facing unprecedented challenges to our prosperity and our security. Our current mortgage crisis has been inflamed by wasteful spending policies in Washington. It is insufficient to do things the way they have been done in the past. America needs leaders who are not afraid to withstand criticism for refusing to increase out National debt or for refusing to vote for pork-laden Bills . The recent attempt to pass a stimulus package at the expense of our children's future is a clear example of why the current leadership is ill-fitted to reign in spending in Washington. America needs leaders who understand what our military lives with. It is time for a change in Tennessee and in America toward a fresher, more conservative, determined and committed leadership. We need leadership we can believe in to improve our economy by eliminating our National debt and supporting business development. We need leadership we can trust to stay a foundational moral course and ensure our children a safe and prosperous life. Americans are yearning to pass on to their children our Homeland and the heritage our parents and founders knew. But they also know this dream is slipping away before their very eyes.
Many of you know where I stand on important issues. You know I believe in cutting our spending and reducing our debt. You know I understand hard work and pride in who we are as Americans has made our economy flourish and become the envy of the world. You know I believe in protecting our sovereign borders and our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. You know I support strong families. You know I believe those who can help themselves should be expected to. And because I am a Marine Corps vet, you know I support a strong military which cowers to no one except the Almighty. You know I believe in the basic values America was once envied for the world over. America has lost much of her prestige in the world because we have turned our eyes toward unfulfilling promises. Our leaders have led us astray from what made us great and awesome as a people. Does this mean America cannot once again be great? NO, of course not. We know better. We have it within our selves to seek our Creator's help and to humbly ask for protection and prosperity . But America needs leadership which has no fear but rather welcomes these challenges.
Therefore, I ask you to join me. Help me to make the changes necessary to turn America around before it is too late. Come with me and help me to be a voice and force for change which the world will not be able to deny."
